Postpartum Care for Moms
I’m proud to announce that I’ll be joining Annie Gilligan for her amazing postpartum class; Closing the Birthing Year: a postpartum circle of healing and renewal. It will be held on February 2, 2019 from 3PM to 5PM at Wildhearts Wellness in NE Portland.u
Annie brings a unique set of skills as a postpartum doula to this circle for postpartum moms. Furthermore, she helps support moms in their new role as mothers.
Through her work as a doula, mom and teacher, she has learned that nourishing the mother through the childbearing years is essential for personal and family well-being. Therefore, Annie helps create space for new mothers to be honored and nourished after the transformational experience of becoming a mother.
Postpartum Class in Portland, Oregon
Here’s a description of her postpartum circle from her flyer. “Our bodies and spirit undergo incredible transformation in the birthing year. We bravely open ourselves to the new life that we carry and birth our children into this world in this postpartum class. We rest, connect to our babies, and gradually, we are ready to close the birthing year. As a result, we can return to ourselves as women. Together, we will mark the close of this transformative time by honoring what we have experienced. Participants will experience restorative movement, reflection, and a gentle closing the of body with a birth shawl called a rebozo.”
Annie Gilligan practices as a postpartum doula with Bridgetown Baby and was a former middle school teacher in Portland, Oregon.
