Making your own natural massage oil is easier than you think. Why go out and spend lots of money on fancy pants massage lotion or oils when it’s super easy to make your own at home. Here’s my secret recipe, but don’t tell everyone!
Natural Massage Oil Blend
- 1 cup grapeseed oil
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup jojoba oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil (optional)
Why all these crazy oils?
Well, let me tell you. If you’re a purist, go ahead and just use grapeseed oil. Grapeseed oil is really lovely and glides on thin, soaks into the skin easily, and won’t leave you feeling sticky. Smooth and light is my goal when I’m making my natural massage oil.
Olive Oil Love
I absolutely adore olive oil, and not just because I can eat a whole bottle of olives in one sitting. Olive oil is also magical for skin. It’s not only rich in vitamins A, D, K, and E. Olive oil is rich in antioxidants which decrease cancer risk and help you stay looking young. Let’s not forget it’s antibacterial as well!
All that being said, olive oil is a rather heavy oil, so go easy on it. If you’re using it on your face, make sure you’ve got a nice clean area to work with.
Hydrating Jojoba Oil
I think the first time I used jojoba oil was on my super dry hair. It is very easily absorbed into human skin and hair. Not to mention that it’s yet another vitamin rich oil. Jojoba oil has vitamin E, B-complex, copper, zinc, selenium, iodine, and chromium.
Lastly, jojoba oil can help reduce stretch marks and scars. Oh wait, I forgot that it is also an antimicrobial as well.
Magical lavender oil
Lavender oil is great for so many things. My favorite use though is simply for relaxation. Let’s not forget that we’re making massage oil, and massages are for relaxation. That all important part of our lives that most of us are in desperate need of. So do yourself a favor and add a few drops into your massage oil mix.
I like 10 drops, but that’s just me. I would do a few drops at a time and test out how you like the smell, you don’t want to overdo it. You’ll know when it’s just right! Now go test you natural massage out and let me know what you think. Happy massaging!
